Basement Windows

Windows have the ability to make your basement more aesthetically pleasing and boost safety. Large basement windows, sometimes called "egress windows," from Pella of Concord are created to permit more light into underground areas than the older, smaller, rectangular windows that are put above ground. They also offer an escape in case of an emergency.

The biggest differentiator between basement, or egress, windows and standard windows is that basement windows must be made for an average-sized person to get out in order to meet safety requirements outlined in building codes. You can pick from correctly sized casement, sliding or double-hung windows when you put in basement windows. Make certain that you fully understand local building codes before your purchase of basement windows.
